Aberrant is a core rulebook and prequel to the Trinity science-fiction game that deals with the Aberrant Era. Set in the early 21st century, this complete roleplaying game allows you to be one of these doomed beings of vast power, and to experience their struggles to avoid the coming cataclysm. This Wednesday, the Phone PDF version of Scion Origin goes on sale on DTRPG! If you had a chance to check out the free Pugmire core Phone PDF, then this version of Scion Origin is based off of that process and set-up. Hyper-linked out the wazoo for ease of use, but still containing all the great info and art of the regular PDF and print versions.
Maybe someday, as we keep pecking away at it. But that day is not today. Today we had an opportunity to create a phone-based version of a core rulebook, and we did that. One does not preclude the other ever happening, and now we have a very user friendly hand-held electronic version that is still very much recognizable as Scion Origin.
The first major difference with Aberrant is that in addition to normal attributes such as Dexterity, Manipulation and Wits, novas have what are called Mega-Attributes. Scores in such attributes may be added as dice every time a character makes a roll using the linked mundane attribute, but Mega-Attributes are much more powerful. Every success rolled using Mega-Attribute dice counts as 2 normal successes, and rolling a 10 counts as 3 successes. Alternatively, the scores in a Mega-Attribute may be used to reduce the difficulty on a one for one basis, though never below needing one success. The player can choose each turn which way to use his Mega-Attribute, and can even split the points between the two ways.
Trinity and Aberrant both put out a number of supplements, but were eventually cancelled due to low sales. Adventure! only managed to get a corebook. D20 versions of the corebooks were released in 2004.
A Kickstarter for the Trinity Continuum and Æon corebooks was successfully completed in February 2018, followed by a successful Kickstarter for Aberrant in July 2019 and a successful Kickstarter for Adventure! in April 2021. The first solo Kickstarter for a new game, Anima, finished successfully in November 2021, with a successful Kickstarter for Aether following in August 2022. An eventual game set in the Ancient Greek period called Aegis is also planned.
Great and exciting news today! This isn't just a regular update, this is a notice that two of our big rewards are being sent out - the backer PDFs for the Trinity Continuum Core rulebook and Trinity Continuum: Æon!
